BEDS FOR KIDS
Recycled Treasures has been open for just over one year and it is clear that beds are the number one needed item in this community. We have a waiting list for the donated beds that are coming in and there are folks who needed beds in April that are still waiting! We recently had one family that sent a family member everyday to check and see if we had any beds come in. We finally gave them a queen size piece of foam to use temporarily.
Phase One
Beds for Kids will provide a new mattress and box spring for any child with a referral (as supplies allow).
Phase Two
Volunteers will make quilts from donated fabric for each child receiving a bed.
Phase Three
Volunteers will create a bedroom set from donated furniture and paint. Ten bedroom sets will be given away in 2009.
Every child deserves to sleep in a safe warm bed, and waking up in a room that is nicely decorated will lift their spirits and we can all sleep better knowing that no one is sleeping on the floor this winter!
